
Marieta Tosheva

Marieta Tosheva is a Legal and Policy Officer at the Criminal Procedural Law Unit of the European Commission. She has broad legal expertise at both EU and national level, combining extensive policy, legislative, and institutional experience in criminal justice.
As a member of the Victims' Rights Team, she is currently working on the implementation of the Victims' Rights Strategy. Her work includes the adoption and enforcement of EU victims' rights rules, including the revised Victims' Rights Directive, as well as broader policy development in this area.
Prior to joining the Commission in 2019, Marieta worked at the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice, where she served as a Justice Counsellor responsible for criminal law files.
Marieta has an academic background in Law and International Relations. She holds postgraduate degrees in Politics, Security and Integration, and in European Studies, from University College London and Maastricht University respectively. Marieta was born in Sofia, Bulgaria.
