Sophie Shields is a Policy and Impact Specialist at the Institute for Inspiring Children's Futures, University of Strathclyde. Sophie's areas of expertise include children's human rights, particularly in the contexts of child-centred access to justice, the right to a healthy environment, and the deployment of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
Sophie is also a PhD Candidate at the University of Strathclyde, researching children's human rights and public sector decision-making in the era of artificial intelligence and algorithmic decision-making, with a particular focus on justice and welfare systems.
She is a Member of the Working Group on SDG16+ Justice for Children, and previously the One Ocean Hub's Working Group on Children's Human Rights, where she led publications and dissemination on children's human rights and the right to a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
