Gábor Kiss

Young climate activist, Hungary

Gábor Kiss

Gábor Kiss is a climate activist and law student from Hungary. The issues he considers most important today are climate-conscious education and responsible news consumption for the younger generation. Gábor believes we live in an information-driven society, and it is essential to learn how to reach young people with critical messages about climate change while teaching them how to navigate this often misleading topic.

At the age of 15, Gábor began working on a programme aimed at addressing both of these issues, bringing climate-conscious education into schools. His experience demonstrates that it is never too early to take a stand on a subject that matters to you, even if just a little. During this time, he was also involved in the WellBee camps, which provided him with the opportunity to apply his ideas and help young people learn. The camps were an ideal environment for fostering important values, and he gained valuable insights into new ways of engaging young people and involving them in creative processes.

Another significant milestone in Gábor’s life was becoming the first student ambassador at his school, where he learned how to represent his peers' needs to the leadership. He believes that one of the greatest achievements is working on behalf of your community and making a positive impact. As one of his favourite quotes states, "Let's build on values, not interests" – interests may fade, but values endure forever."
