Regína Jensdóttir
Head of Children's Rights Division, Council of Europe
Regína Jensdóttir holds a law degree from the University of Iceland. She also has a postgraduate degree (D.E.A.) from the University of Strasbourg in international public law.
She joined the Council of Europe in 1998. Since 2010, she has led the Council of Europe's work in the area of the rights of the child. She does this in her capacity as the organisation’s Co-ordinator for the rights of the child and the Head of the Children’s Rights Division.
Regína is responsible for the Council of Europe Steering Committee for the Rights of the Child (CDENF). She oversees the implementation of the Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child (2022-2027) and the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (the Lanzarote Convention) and its monitoring committee. This committee follows how states put the Lanzarote Convention into practice.
Since 2023, Regína has overseen the setting up of the Council of Europe Consultation Group on the Children of Ukraine (CGU).
