Michaela Krömer
Climate Lawyer
Michaela Krömer is an Austrian attorney-at-law who specialises in climate, environmental, and constitutional law. She has filed numerous high-profile climate litigation cases, including on behalf of children with the Austrian Constitutional Court. Krömer is the founder of CLAW - initiative for climate justice and is considered Austria's most prominent climate lawyer.
Krömer is intrigued by how the law can and should address existential issues of our time, including environmental protection and the fight against the climate crisis. She believes human rights can contribute to finding equitable solutions to these challenges and that the legal system should ensure a good life and co-existence for all.
Krömer studied law at the University of Vienna, University of Nottingham and Harvard University. She was awarded the Human Rights Prize by the Austrian League for Human Rights in 2021. She initiated Austria's first climate lawsuit before the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court.
