Astrid Podsiadlowski
Project Manager on Rights of the Child, European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights
Astrid Podsiadlowski is the focal point for Rights of the Child and Head of the Sector on Social Rights at the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.
The Agency provides evidence-based advice to decision-makers at both the European and national levels, drawing on quantitative and qualitative fieldwork research, as well as secondary data analyses of policies, legislation, and statistics.
Astrid's areas of expertise include child-friendly justice, child participation, child poverty, social inequalities (including multiple discrimination, ageing, ethnicity and national origin, gender, and LGBTIQ+), migration and integration, and research methodologies (both quantitative and qualitative, including fieldwork research with children).
She is a social and cross-cultural psychologist by training, and prior to her work at the Agency, she held academic research and teaching positions in Europe, New Zealand, and the USA. In her personal capacity, she is actively engaged as an author, facilitator, and volunteer, supporting refugee children and their families.
