Penal Reform International
Penal Reform International (PRI) is a non-governmental organisation working globally to promote criminal justice systems that uphold human rights and avoid harm.
With over 30 years of experience, PRI is a trusted partner for a wide range of justice actors, including national and regional authorities, policymakers, academics and international bodies such as the United Nations. It supports fair and effective criminal justice systems through research, advocacy and practical programmes.
Since 1989, PRI has worked to improve detention conditions and promote alternatives to imprisonment in Europe and beyond. Its work aims to align national systems with international standards and to protect the rights of all people in contact with the law, including children, women and girls, foreign nationals, racial and ethnic minorities, and LGBTQI+ individuals.
As a founding member of the Global Initiative on Justice With Children, PRI advocates for fair and appropriate responses for children in contact with the law.
